Best Random Day EVER...

...Today was great. I didn't sleep in because Grey woke up at 5:30. Not cool. But I was happy to be up and not going to work! : ) Then, I discovered that Grey's 2nd tooth had broke through, hence the early rise. So we celebrated with bananas for breakfast.

I went to the dentist and eye doctor. I had no cavities and I picked out some new glasses, which are kid-sized. Because I have a small head like that.

Grey and I played.

Jared and I napped and watched the first Hunger Games in anticipation for the sequel we're going to see tomorrow for date night.

And I went to the gym. I haven't been in ages and it was wonderful. I love going to the gym when it's cold. Here is where some major random comes into play. So, in one of my last tech updates, my playlists disappeared, so I have about 1,600 songs that are not really sorted. I decided to just shuffle all of my music and listen to whatever while working out. Here is what my playlist ended up being:

Kutless- Sea of Faces
Sean Carter- Passion Song
Backstreet Boys-  My Love is All I Have to Give
Alan Jackson- She's Gone Coutnry
Taio Cruz & Ludacris- Break Your Heart
Dashboard Confessional- Blame it on the Changes
Dashboard Confessional- Screaming Infidelities
Dixie Chicks- Not Ready to Make Nice
Ty Herndon- It Must Be Love
Ingrid Michaelson- The Way I Am
Shakira- Ciega Sorda Muda
Counting Crows- Colorblind
Three Dog Night- I've Never Been to Spain
JoJo- Too Little, Too Late
Bon Jovi- Shot Through the Heart
Paramore- When it Rains
Shane and Shane- Psalm 118
Ed Sheeran- The A Team
Taking Back Sunday- Timberwolves at New Jersey

If someone asked me what kind of music I like, I honestly couldn't even tell you. I apparently like everything. : )

Some other randoms from break so far...
I made this chalkboard sign for my friend's Christmas card.
 To-do list wreath, check!
These two played while I made dinner.
I am loving Thanksgiving break and can't wait for more random, lovely, relaxing days this week!

Some Non-baby, Life Lately...Kind of...

...I say non-baby, only because Grey is not in any of these pictures! : )

We celebrated our 8th anniversary last week by trying out HG Suply Co. It's a Paleo friendly restaurant in Dallas. It was VERY good! We had bacon wrapped pork shanks for an appetizer, a new york strip with mushroom ragout, a beef filet with carmelized onions and fennel, seasonal veggies, and broccoli for our main course...and since it was our anniversary, flourless chocolate cake with almond milk ice cream and strawberries with a lemon sauce. It was yummy and the atmosphere was great. I can't wait to go back!
I co-hosted a shower/get-together for my dear friend, Lauren, a couple weeks ago. She is expecting her second little boy in December. We had a "Dudes and Diapers" couples shower. I was in charge of most of the cooking and my BFF, Stephanie, took care of the amazing decor, drinks, and sliders. We had a great time with friends, hubbies, and our babes!
Dear, sweet best friends.
I don't know why I take pictures of myself at school, but here's what I've been wearing lately. I'm trying not to repeat outfits this year. I need to stop shopping and wear what I have! Ignore my faces, they're weird.
The week I wore blue...
 Then green...
 Then whatever...
So, I pretty much stopped working in August. I had started T25 at the end of July and after two weeks I noticed my milk supply dropping, so I stopped (ate lots of oatmeal, drank a ton of water, and added some extra pumps to get it back up). Prior to that I had been working out about 3 times a week. I wanted to at least get back into 3 times a week, but then work started and I've just been trying to figure out how life works when you have a baby you love, a husband you adore, and a job that you have to go to 5 days a week. Well, I finally decided I couldn't stand not working out anymore, so I just finished doing one of my favorite workouts- Bum Bum from the Brazilian Butt Lift series. I am shaky and sweaty typing this right now. It felt SO good! I'm ready to add some routine workouts back into my week! I think the Bum Bum workout in BBL is harder than any of the T25. I love the T25 series, but will probably wait until I'm done BF to start them again. I love short and intense workouts. Because long workouts just don't work anymore...Ain't nobody got time for that!!!

I also just made this paleo dish, from here. And it is AMAZING!! But I'm too tired to eat it. I can't wait to try some of her other recipes.
And that's all I got.

Weekly Randoms....

...Today was a four day work week. We are heading to Indiana tomorrow for my Grandma's funeral. It will be very bittersweet, and I'm sure I'll write more about her life later. For now, I'm simply exhausted! Work is kicking my butt! I am so busy all day, which is great because I don't have time to sit around dreaming about being a SAHM, but it's also bad because I forget to pump at the normal feed times and will suddenly realize I need to relieve the pressure! Eek! I think this has resulted in me fighting off mastitis. I've tried to get it a couple of times in the last 5 months but have been able to avoid the full blown horror I hear it can be. As of now, I'm achy all over and have a tender and red duct. Fun. I'm praying it goes away, and also praying my baby girl will sleep (or at least not fuss) on her very first flight. I'm nervous. Nervous and tired. And achy.

On another note, I am pretty excited about wearing something other than athletic shorts and a nursing tank now. So I took pictures of my get-up every day. Because I'm sure everyone is dying to know what I wear. Don't mind the books in the background of the pictures. I pump in this little closet in the back of my room. It happens to have been equipped with a mirror. The mirror hangs crooked and really annoys me. I obviously didn't hang that thing! I feel weird taking pictures of myself.

I always wear heels the first day of school, forgetting that I have lived in flip-flops for months...ALWAYS resulting in blisters and having to wear sandals the rest of the week.
I bought these railroad striped skinnies at Old Navy for $8!!!
So, I guess I liked stripes this week. And skinnies.
I also took the liberty of buying new organizational supplies for my desk/office area. Because, if I have to work, I must do it in style. You may notice I have a lot of pens and sharpies. I'm kind of obsessed with buying colored pens.

Not A Lota...

...Not a lot is going on here. I haven't been in much of a blogging mood as of late. Here is a little catch-up...

...I recently adopted the Paleo diet into my life, so I have also been spending a lot of time in the kitchen as I learn to eat and cook without carbs, dairy, legumes, soy, and basically anything processed and easy to eat! The first week or so was a little rough, mostly because I missed the convenience of having a bowl of cereal for dinner, or grabbing a special K bar/cheese stick  on my way to work/gym/wherever. I have read every label on every food item I go to purchase & I can honestly say that I am now officially disturbed by the crap that I have been putting in my body for the last 29 years. The hardest part of this diet, other than convenient eating, is giving up coffee! I now only allow myself one cup a week, usually on Sunday mornings. I also have one cheat meal a week and occasionally/rarely allow a little portion of unhealthy meat (bacon/sausage) or bit of cream/cheese to slip into my meals/drinks. So far, I've done pretty well, although I'm still learning. My purpose for this dietary change is not for weight loss, but for overall health & wellness. I can imagine in my future I will definitely indulge in some unhealthy meals, because who can go a life time without creme brulee, movie theater popcorn, or pancakes?! But, after just a month of eating clean, I think I can say that I will always be aware of what I put into my body & will never again be able to eat as I have in the past. Here are some great recipe sites/blogs I've found on the Paleo lifestyle. We had macadamia & chorizo crusted halibut this week and it was amazing!

Occasionally, Gwyneth Paltrow's site will have some Paleo meals:

...I recently went to the Teacher of the Year Banquet to celebrate my friend, Courtney, as she received her much deserved recognition and award. I love, love, love this girl. I have been blessed to know this sweet woman over the last 6 years and am honored to have her as a friend and a teacher role model. I also love that we are often confused for one another by students, parents, and other teachers at our school. At one point, her mom even called me Courtney. This is a huge compliment, because as you can see, she is about the cutest, most fashionable girl I know! We are pretty sure we were separated at birth. Anyway, Courtney and I have only been on the same grade level team for one year, and then we were split apart by our principal who had to do some movements at our campus. We begged her to keep us together (she couldn't), and ultimately told her that one day we would find a way to work together again. Well, we sure showed her, because next year we are both going to be taking on a new job of Instructional Coach, so we will finally be on a team together again. Unfortunately, we are both going to new campuses, so we won't see each other daily. We have already arranged to Face Time each morning to see what the other is wearing... Wow, I just got very off track...

Sweet teacher friends.
With the T.O.Y.
...We hung out with my love's family. Here is a shot of Jared and one of our nephews, Payne. Two peas in a pod.
...I took this picture of my ring because I like the way it looked by the hem of my dress. I thought it was pretty. And I was bored sitting in traffic. Just call me artsy. : )
...My dear, dear friend, Anne, is moving to Connecticut in just 2 weeks. I see this girl almost daily. We go on walks, we eat out, we shop, our husbands make us laugh, we go to church, and bible study together. I don't know what I'll do when she leaves. My heart will break. : ( We've been spending as much time with her and her husband as we can! We went to Brio for dinner last weekend with the Catlins & Mannings. It was a lovely, long, patio dinner.
Anne, me, and Courtney (a different, but equally fabulous Courtney)
...I've been reading One Thousand Gifts, by Ann Voskamp. Life has been a little rough lately,  and I am clinging to hope & learning to give thanks daily. It is hard to be thankful when you feel like things suck. But the more I do it, the easier it is to see all the blessings that surround me. And His blessings are plentiful.
From her book:

"I wonder too...if...the losses that puncture our world, our own emptiness, might actually become places to see. To see though to God. That which tears open our souls, those holes that splatter our sight, may actually become the thin, open places to see through the mess of this place to the heart-aching beauty beyond. To Him. To the God whom we endlessly crave. How do we choose to allow the holes to become seeing through to God places? How do I give up resentment for gratitude, gnawing anger for spilling joy, self-focus for God-communion? To fully live- to live full of grace and joy and all that is beauty eternal."

“Eucharisteo—thanksgiving—always precedes the miracle.”
So, as you can see, nothing too exciting has been going on. We're just enjoying each day as it comes & walking in !

Did You Know...

...there was a Hall & Oates Emergency Hotline!? See here to learn more.

A few months back, my best friend from college texted me the hotline number and told me I had to call immediately.  I felt rather apprehensive to follow her instructions and call an unfamiliar number, having no idea who was on the other end. Well, I took a risk and it changed my life. Back in the day, my theme song was "Man Eater", for reasons I shall not go into today. I even had a shirt with it on it. Oh, the good ole days... For the last 4 months or so, whenever I was down, I just dialed 719-26-OATES and pressed 3. Well, I am sad to say, the line is no longer in working order. I called today and now I am feeling more down than ever...

I hope I'll recover by tomorrow. : )
