...The closer we get to one year, the sappier I get. Every little thing you do each day I am trying to soak up. I want to remember every little roll, grin, laugh, screech, and baby babble. It warms my heart, and the memories of you being so sweet, little and dependent are probably what will carry me through your teenage years. That and a whole lot of Jesus. I kid. I'm sure you'll be perfect angels just as you are now.
Really though, life is so much sweeter with the two of you in it.
We have gotten out a lot this past month (with the final approval from the doctor). It's a huge pain loading and unloading the stroller just to go into Target (I'm ready for you to sit up in the cart so we can do some real damage), but it is so worth it to get out of the house and show you the world! We, of course, get many looks, questions, and comments when we brave the public domains with you 3 girls. I read about how annoyed some twin mommies get by this, but I rather enjoy it. It's funny to hear the questions people have about twins or their own stories about their twins or their cousin's friend's brother's twins. What a great way to talk to people you normally would just pass by...and what if one day these encounters with strangers lead to talks about Jesus and lives are changed...
Twins are special. You two are special. I'm so lucky to be your mommy.
- So you're both 9 months, 7 1/2 months adjusted...
- Wearing 3-6 month clothing and size 2 diapers. You are both growing great and are on the charts (mostly) for your actual age. You both have HUGE heads, just like your big sister and daddy, which is probably why you're not yet sitting.
- Hazel, Hazel Pie, Haze, H.L. Squish-squish Face: 14 lbs 6 ounces (7th percentile adjusted- 3rd percentile actual), 25.8 inches (14th percentile adjusted, 2nd percentile actual), 43.6cm head circ. (64th percentile adjusted, 42nd percentile actual). One word: smiley!! You are so, SO happy. Nothing really gets to you or gets you down, you're so easy going and will flash your 1 1/2 bottom teeth to anyone that gives you attention. And you LOVE attention. I cannot say enough about your smile though. It is ear-to-ear, and your whole face just scrunches up (Hence, Squish-squish Face). It seriously melts my heart into a giant puddle every.single.time.
- Scarlett, Scar, Letta Lou, Little Lett, Scarletta Gene the Jelly Bean:14 lbs 8 ounces (9th percentile adjusted- 3rd percentile actual...this is the first time since your November stomach bug that you've passed Hazel in weight), 25.4 inches (7th percentile adjusted, <1 39th="" 43.5cm="" a="" actual="" adjusted="" adventure="" an="" and="" are="" as="" away="" bashful="" bored="" bottom="" br="" can="" circ.="" coyly.="" cry="" definite="" etc.="" explore="" flirt="" from="" get="" have="" head="" high="" love="" of="" off="" often="" oh-so-sweet.="" on="" or="" percentile="" pitched="" scream="" screech="" sensitive="" serious="" shrill="" sister="" smile="" something.="" something="" soon="" st="" started="" still="" t="" take="" takes="" teeth.="" the="" tired="" to="" toy="" turn="" twin="" two="" unhappy="" upset="" us="" we="" when="" with="" you.="" you="" your="">1>
- You're both the most laid back babies, happy and playful, rarely cry, are rockstar sleepers. If there is such thing as a perfect baby, I think you two are it!
- You both army crawl all around. Scarlett, you took off first and a few days later Hazel followed suite. We are trying to decide the best way to keep you both safe as you are going off on your adventures, often in opposite directions. It looks like a large play pen may be the answer.
- Neither of you sit on your own for longer than 5 seconds. Again, your head.
- You are both SUPER ticklish.
- You think your sister hung the moon (we do too) and if she's in the room, no one else exists.
- You are HUGE fans of your daddy. I'm equating this to the fact that he's not around as much as me and so when he is, you can't take your eyes off him.
- Eating: You'll eat ANYTHING. We have tried pretty much every baby puree available and you eat them all. You're adjusting to the thicker ones and we are working on eating puffs. Hazel, you gag just like your big sister with this and it's so funny! Scarlett, you will still gag but work through it and do pretty well. We are also starting to try sippy cups. You basically just chew on the right now.
- As you have transitioned to 2 naps, we have also transitioned from 5 5 ounce bottles, to 4 6 ounce bottles. There is usually one-two bottles you don't finish depending on your solid intake, but I would say you currently take 20-22 ounces a day and eat about 6-9 ounces of purees.
- Schedule:
- Wake between 6:30-7. Sometimes you will wake and go back to sleep. You've slept as late at 7:45. There were a couple of days at Gigi's when you were waking at 5, but would go back to sleep.
- Eat bottle when you wake.
- 8:00- solids
- 9/9:30- go down for nap (You JUST transitioned to two naps at the VERY end of this month)
- 11/11:30- wake and bottle
- 12:00- solids
- 1:30/2- nap
- 3/3:30 wake and bottle
- 4:30/5- solids
- 5:30/6- bottle
- 6-7- bed (usually closer to 6 since transitioning to 2 naps)
