2 Years and Counting...+7 Months...

...
Grey Grey,
You're officially closer to 3 than you are 2. Sniff, sniff. We were walking into the hospital to see mommy's OB yesterday- it had been almost 3 months since we went there together. You were excited to see "Boctor Durt", and I was sad because you have changed SO, SO much in just 3 short months. You are becoming more and more of a little girl each day, and less and less of a toddler (minus the times you want me to feed and burp you like a baby). It is so much fun watching you develop and show your personality. I still describe you as sweet, silly, with a touch of sass. One thing your daddy and I have noticed about you is your empathy for others. This is not something you can easily teach and I'm so thankful God has created you to sense others' emotions and hurts. You cannot stand to see others sad or crying, from your sisters to a new friend on the playground. You are very sensitive and do not like to get in trouble or disappoint us. You are friendly to EVERYONE. You want to play with EVERYONE. You share your toys, even when you don't really want to. You include others and are so sweet to ask everyone to "come on, come play". My favorite is when you say, "come on momma!" and hold our your hand to me. Granted you are two, you have moments of tantrums and sass and outright defiance just to see what you can get away with. Usually these moments are laughable, but occasionally mommy and daddy want to pull their hair out. You're the best big sister, helping in every way you can. You're a blessing to us, Grey the Great. We truly think you're the greatest.
XOXO- Mommy and Daddy

Monthly Highlights and Pictures:

  • Size 4 diapers, size 6 shoes, almost all 2T clothing- you've gotten SO tall! (This doesn't mean you are tall, just that you've grown. :))
  • Still no real interest in potty training. We keep telling you we will go get ice cream with sprinkles if you will use the potty. The bribe isn't working so far. You occasionally sit on the toilet, but that's about it.
  • You're queen of changing your mind...you want daddy, no mommy...no milk, yes milk...no like that, like that...Girl, you better get it together!
  • You love telling things where you're going. i.e.- "trees, I'm going to school!!", "pumpkins, I'm going to grocery store!"
  • Speaking of school, you LOVE it still. You ask to go almost every day. You're learning lots and Miss Minna and Miss Gayle said you are doing great and have great days. You did have one day that you didn't get to go to the treasure box because you were singing and talking during nap time. Once you realized you didn't get a prize at the end of the day you have never had another problem. We discussed this in length at home and you had to apologize. Having spent 10 years in schools, I am super interested in the type of student you will be. We went up to see you for your pumpkin patch and fall celebration and I am happy to report you seem to be a great listener and rule follower. My teacher heart is happy.
  • You are quite the negotiator. We have learned with you that we can't just tell you it's time to go do something, you do best if we give you a warning and countdown, i.e. 5 more minutes until bath time. Well, you are learning to say "2 more minutes, okay." You may need to work on this though because you often cut your minutes down. :)
  • Favorite things you say: be right back, one second, it's okay baby
  • You have picked up on the word mine, and lots of things are now "Grey's". I'm okay with taking ownership, but we'll need to work on your tone.
  • You're quite the story telling, which you get from your daddy and Great Grandpas (HL and Charlie). My favorite story you have told is about a spider that was in your eye. You had to take it out (which you showed us with your hands). The spider was apparently pink or blue and you left it upstairs.
  • You love to sing and dance and wear anything that twirls.
  • Everything is big or baby, i.e.- baby thunder, big thunder. OR a mommy and daddy.
  • The best part of this month was a conversation we had on the way home from Target. We were looking at the sky and talking about how God has made everything. And how much Jesus loves us. You said, "Mommy, I love Jesus". My eyes filled with tears. I know you are only two and that you don't fully understand faith and what our Savior has done for us, but this is the seed. These are the conversations that will water your soul and hopefully one day bring you to a place where you accept Christ as king of your heart. Oh I can't wait for that day. It's THE ONLY thing that really matters.
I LOVE picking you up from MDO!
 You're seriously so big!
Daddy got you!
Enjoying our morning with some grass mowing and crossword puzzles!
You love your sparkle jammies and are obsess with your slippers.
You're finally starting to smile for the camera and it's pretty funny the cheeses we get!
 Too cool for school.
You insisted on wearing your slippers to school. I chose that as a battle you could win. Partly because it was cute.
You got one of mommy's anniversary "slowers" (All your 'f's are 's' sounds).
You wear trying to cry and fuss like a baby in this picture.
 Trying on your Halloween costume!
You LOVED it!
 Rainy day fort building.
Rainy day attire for a birthday party at the Perot museum. I can't wait to take you back!
"Sprinkles!" your favorite, you pick each one off and eat them individually.
 With the birthday girl!
 My favorite shopping buddy.
Just a glimpse into our day!
Uncle Brando snuggles.
 You found daddy's hat.
We spend entirely too much time in our pjs now that mommy isn't working. Well pjs, and pirate eye patches that is.
You're Marilyn Monroe moment at the baby shower brunch. You LOVED it!

 And that's a wrap for October! :)
